For a big portion of my life I was a shy, fearful boy. On top of that, I also had a stuttering problem. I kept to myself, did what I was told, and didn’t venture out too far. This remained true up until high school when I began working. Being out in the world opened my eyes to many things. I worked at a deli along side people that were my parents age and were in the same position as me. They’d pass along crazy life stories and things they wish they would have done differently. This perspective later drove me to leave the deli, open my first business at 16, and begin living life. Meeting these people drove me to try new things, which lead to discovering some pretty amazing new places. I share this model to anyone and everyone, because life is too short to be lived timidly. The best thing I could have done for myself is get out of there.
Meet new people
It’s amazing what happens when you meet someone new. Through conversation you are introduced to unique philosophies and perspectives you would have never looked at. Our minds open up, allowing us to have a better understanding of the world around us.
Try new things
You couldn’t imagine all the things that we are capable of doing if we just take a chance. Without fearing failure, if we just went out and tried something new, we could get some pretty interesting results. If we continued to do the same things over and over again, how can we expect new outcomes? We must take a leap and try something new.
Discover new places
Changing up the scenery by going to a place we’ve never been is one of the best ways to get inspiration. Everything is foreign to us, so our mind runs wild trying to take it all in. At this point we aren’t thinking about problems and situations we have but actually living in the moment and enjoying everything in front of us.
Since 2008 when I began my career, I’ve gotten the chance to meet some very interesting people, work on extraordinary projects, and travel to over 12 countries. This is only the beginning, there is so many more new things to be discovered. and I encourage everyone to join me.
I’ve created this three poster series in hopes of reminding ourselves to meet new people, try new things, and discover new places.
